According to Fiorelli -
VII.5.3-6. Of these shops in which nothing remained that can point to their use, it would seem that two had been used for the sale of fuel, since pitch or bitumen was seen on the ground, liquefied by the heat of the fire aroused by the incandescent materials of Vesuvius.
